Briefs: Court Delays Mass Trial, NEC Relents on Vote Document

The Phnom Penh Municipal Court delayed a mass-trial hearing against CNRP members and supporters because a defense lawyer had come in contact with a Covid-19 case at PJ Prison. Six political parties welcomed the National Election Committee’s decision to retain Form 1102, which is used to report results to poll observers at voting stations.

Government Puts Controversial Internet Gateway on Hold

The Telecom Ministry confirmed this afternoon the controversial National Internet Gateway, expected to come online Wednesday, has been postponed because of the Covid-19 pandemic and potential disruptions to online traffic.

Malady and Magic: The Murders of Cambodia’s ‘Black Magic’ Practitioners

In Kampong Speu’s Sre Ken village, an 18-year-old’s alleged murder of his stepfather was met with sympathy. “Nobody disliked him,” a resident said of the 18-year-old. “But mostly we wished [the stepfather] would die.” The older man had been suspected of using black magic.
