The driver of a tycoon’s son has been arrested for allegedly gunning down a guard at the father’s villa.

Ou Sophy, 22, was arrested around 8 a.m. Wednesday in Kandal’s Sa’ang district for the murder of security guard Kong Soth in Phnom Penh’s Boeng Keng Kang I on Tuesday, said Phnom Penh police spokesman San Sokseyha.

Soth was shot several times at a villa on Street 322 owned by oknha Lim Bun Sour, the chairman of ING Holdings, according to police.

The suspect, Sophy, has been sent to the municipal police headquarters for further questioning, Sokseyha said.

Oknha Bun Sour could not be reached.

85 Advisers Appointed to Justice Ministry

The Justice Ministry has added 85 unpaid advisers.

In two separate decrees, the government appointed 33 advisers with the rank of deputy director-general and 52 others as advisers without pay to the ministry.

Justice Ministry spokesman Chin Malin said the goal was to improve the ministry’s efficiency. He said the advisers were from various backgrounds and selected based on specific needs “to use their skills and talents,” but did not provide details.

“These appointments don’t add a burden to the state because they don’t take a salary,” Malin said.
