Defendants Not Fully Informed of Trial Rights, CCHR Finds

The Cambodian Center for Human Rights has called on judges to “inform and fully explain” to all defendants both their rights during trial and the charges against them, citing a 16-month review of proceedings at the Phnom Penh Appeal Court.

Ministry to Add Covid-19 Testing Labs as Foreign Arrivals Increase

The Health Ministry on Friday said it would establish three new laboratories that can test samples for Covid-19 as international arrivals to Cambodia have risen to up to 900 people per day following a drastic drop in tourist entries amid the global pandemic.

Three Officers Warned Over Beating of Man Recorded in Viral Video

Three unnamed police officers in Phnom Penh received a written warning from the capital’s police chief this week after they were seen kicking and hitting a man in a widely shared social media video, which rights experts said warranted further investigation and potential consequences for the officers.
