Collapsed Building Had Too Little Rebar, Wrong Cement, Officials Say

Officials in Kep province, where 36 people were killed when an unfinished building collapsed on them last week, said the construction had various technical failures — from using incorrect materials to building too many floors — and diverged from what the building permit allowed.

Kep Official: Collapsed Building Was Constructed Illegally

A land management officer in Kep province said the seven-story building that collapsed on Friday, killing 36 and injuring 23 others, had started construction without a license and had only been permitted to build up to six stories.

Kep Building Collapse Kills 36, Including 6 Children

Rescue teams have pulled 23 injured survivors and the bodies of 36 dead, including six children, from the rubble of an under-construction, seven-story building, which fell on Friday in the coastal province, Kep City Hall said in a statement on Sunday.
