Investors in GoldFX, a financial firm run by ruling party scions that says it was cheated out of $20 million by ex-board members, have sought the intervention of Prime Minister Hun Sen, saying they cannot accept the company’s offer of 30 percent compensation for their lost investments.
The financial firm, run by Ke Suonsophy and Sar Channet, the daughter and niece of two deputy prime ministers, suspended operations in April, blaming three ex-board members of cheating the company out of $20 million.
About 60 investors protested in Phnom Penh on Monday over money they allegedly lost to an embattled investment firm that once advertised links to business and ruling-party elites.
