Two anti-Vietnamese youth nationalists who petitioned against the formation of a Vietnamese language department at the Royal University of Phnom Penh in August were arrested Tuesday as they attempted to bring their protests to a public plaza.
A small group of youth activists submitted a petition to the Education Ministry asking it to cancel the formation of a Vietnamese language department at the Royal University of Phnom Penh’s Institute of Foreign Languages.
Yuong Soda has been hiding since he was convicted for incitement in 2021 for posting online that a Vietnamese friendship monument in Pailin threatened Cambodia’s sovereignty.
