Road Accidents Decline Amid Less Traffic, Stricter Penalties

The number of traffic accidents dropped 23 percent in the first nine months of the year compared to the same period last year, according to government figures, with an expert suggesting that there had been fewer cars on the road and that stricter penalties were working as a deterrent.

‘Very Drunk’ Traffic Police Chief Fired, Not Fined

A police officer has been removed from his position as Kampong Thom traffic police chief after allegedly driving drunk and crashing his vehicle earlier this month, but has not been fined for the apparent traffic violation, a police official said on Monday.

We’re Failing to Prevent Road Accidents, Sar Kheng Says

Interior Minister Sar Kheng said the government’s campaign to prevent traffic accidents is failing, with the number of accidents and injuries in the first 10 months of this year rising by about a third compared to last year, and deaths up by 10 percent.
