Hun Sen has appointed fired Agriculture Minister Veng Sakhon as minister delegate attached to the prime minister three days after his removal.
Dith Tina, Energy Ministry secretary of state and the son of Supreme Court president Dith Munty, has been put forward as the replacement for sacked Agriculture Minister Veng Sakhon.
Agriculture Minister Veng Sakhon was fired over the weekend following past criticism from the prime minister that he doesn’t cooperate well with others.
Agriculture Minister Veng Sakhon assured animal welfare NGO Wildlife Alliance that an animal rescue center at Phnom Tamao will remain untouched, but did not address the potential destruction of hundreds of hectares of protected forest around it through the planned privatization of land.
The potential scope of the destruction of the forest, home to a wildlife rescue center and endangered animals, was not previously disclosed.
Prime Minister Hun Sen railed against his agriculture minister on Wednesday, lambasting him for raising pork prices and for not attending a meeting with the Commerce Ministry.
