Three Officers Warned Over Beating of Man Recorded in Viral Video

Three unnamed police officers in Phnom Penh received a written warning from the capital’s police chief this week after they were seen kicking and hitting a man in a widely shared social media video, which rights experts said warranted further investigation and potential consequences for the officers.

Long-Haired Traffic-Cop Parody Prompts Police Complaint

Claiming damage to officers’ “prestige and dignity,” the country’s national police union has asked the Information Ministry to step in and regulate a series of comedic videos depicting traffic-police imposters in an “inappropriate” way — including having long hair.

‘Very Drunk’ Traffic Police Chief Fired, Not Fined

A police officer has been removed from his position as Kampong Thom traffic police chief after allegedly driving drunk and crashing his vehicle earlier this month, but has not been fined for the apparent traffic violation, a police official said on Monday.

Petitioners Held, Questioned After Requesting Debt Relief, Face Masks

Ten petitioners who called on the government this week to provide debt relief and protective health supplies to poor citizens were detained and questioned in Phnom Penh and Kampong Speu province, and then released after agreeing not to petition the state again.
